Founded in 1874, Longfellow Elementary School is governed by Community Unit School District 200, which operates various elementary, middle and high schools. The school serves students in kindergarten through grade five. Longfellow Elementary School's curriculum includes reading, math, science, music, art and physical education. It also offers the English Language Learners program. The school provides psychological counseling, social and speech pathology services. In addition, it also coordinates a range of before- and after-school programs. The school operates a parent-teacher association that organizes fundraising activities. Longfellow Elementary School operates a library learning center that maintains a collection of online and printed educational materials.
Our school is a charter school that is also a "public school". It has been open since 1996 and believes in "basic education" and "performing arts".
