We are focused on the education and well being of gifted students and their families. Based on best practices from Expeditionary Learning Education, and Project-Based Learning, Helios delivers a rigorous, experiential curriculum with an emphasis on social-emotional learning. Our school is suffused with a thoughtful, compassionate culture where out-of-the-box thinking is celebrated. We provide a truly compelling and compassionate education for gifted students, helping them harness their talents and grow into confident, caring, competent individuals. Why Helios? Giftedness isn't a talent or high achievement; it isn't a function of how children perform, but rather who they are. Their cognitive and emotional makeup is different from the norm, and they have a strong intellectual drive to learn - which can make it difficult for them to thrive in a traditional classroom where classes are too easy or rote. Helios provides: 1. True Peers - Where gifted children can feel free to be themselves. 2. Differentiated Learning - Ensuring that they are challenged and supported in every area. 3. Authentic Learning - Less repetition and more depth and complexity in a curriculum that is relevant to their everyday lives. 4. Social / Emotional Learning - Helping them emerge prepared for the challenges of high school and beyond. We invite you to discover Helios' program and to use the resources we have assembled here. We wish you the best in your search.

Chess Wizards is offering specially designed after school classes that cater to all levels of chess ability. Each child is challenged by fun games and lessons from real Wizard teachers. We run a number of tournaments, school matches, and winter/summer camps to challenge our students. It is proven that chess enhances cognitive development in children, improves both verbal and mathematical skills, and increases all levels of academic performance! Playing chess stimulates the mind and helps children strengthen skills such as focusing, visualizing goals, abstract thinking, and forming concrete opinions. Chess Wizards is so successful because of our unique approach. Classes and lessons are based on our original, fun, and high-energy Chess Wizards curriculum.
