Kids' Choice provides quality care for children 2-5yrs of age. Our mission is to establish a safe, healthy, nurturing, learning environment for young children and to meet the needs of our families and to have a positive relationship with these families. We offer a variety of developmentally appropriate experiences daily. Children learn and develop through "hands on experience", playing and living skills, as well as the ability to care for her/himself and for others. Our curriculum includes play as the primary mode of learning. Teachers use conflict resolution techniques to guide the children through their daily interactions. By learning to cooperate and use their positive words with their peers and each other, helps create a happy classroom. We use our Powerful Words! We create a learning environment that promotes choices and doing self selection. We at Kids' Choice a trained to provide a positive experience for the child on a social, academic and emotional level. We teach the kids' that their feelings are important. We help the child to develop a positive self image and problem solving skills that they will use through out their life. Established in 1887, New Mexico School for the Deaf is a special education school providing educational and support services to deaf children and youth up to 22 years of age. It is located in Santa Fe, N.M., and also offers various early childhood services through its preschools in Albuquerque and Las Cruces in Mew Mexico. Its academic curriculum encompasses various traditional and elective subjects. Additionally, it offers a wide range of outreach programs, and residential, educational and recreational activities, such as athletics, clubs and life skills development programs. Through Step Hi program it offers family-centered early intervention services for babies, toddlers and young children. It additionally offers specialized services and facilities, including rehabilitation counseling, health centers, transportation and occupational, physical, speech and language therapies. The courses offered at the middle and high school level include English, mathematics, social studies, science, physical education, career, health, woodworking, basic computers, American Sign Language and arts. New Mexico School for the Deaf is approved by the Commission on Schools of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Pinon Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through sixth grade. It is a part of Los Alamos Public Schools. The school s curriculum is aligned with the New Mexico standards and performance benchmarks. Pinon Elementary School s academic curriculum includes language arts, math, art, science, social studies, English, and health and physical education. The school uses Harcourt math for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. It offers a variety of sports activities, such as volleyball, swimming, basketball, baseball and tennis. Chamisa Elementary School offers classes from grades kindergarten through six, and is governed by the Los Alamos Public Schools. The school district offers an intensive academic curriculum based on individual student's needs, abilities and interests. The school s curriculum includes English, science, social studies, mathematics, physical education and music. It offers various extracurricular activities, including band, orchestra, choir, art and Web clubs, book and stitching clubs, and student council. The school has certified diagnosticians providing educational diagnosis for students with special learning and behavioral needs, including students who are gifted or who have learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, mental and physical handicaps, and multiple disabilities. The school has a parent-teacher organization to support the work of the school system, including enrichment programs, special events and projects.
