Located in Ann Arbor, Mich., Dicken Elementary School offers a range of educational programs to students in kindergarten through grade five. Its curriculum includes reading, history, math, art, science and English. The school conducts classes in special and physical education, as well as administers the English as a Second Language program. It also operates a parent-teacher organization that conducts several fundraising events and programs. The school maintains a library and media center that stocks books and periodicals and provides links to search engines. It offers a lunch menu to its students. Gretchen’s House is a locally owned and operated family of eight childcare centers in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with satellite centers in Ypsilanti and Houghton. We have been providing child development programs for infants through school-age children since 1985. Our programs are licensed by the state of Michigan and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Gretchen’s House has a partnership with the HighScope International Research Foundation. We implement the HighScope curriculum in our infant/toddler and preschool classrooms. Our research-based curriculum is centered on the principle that children learn by doing. Our curriculum provides engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that encourage children to become confident, competent, life-long learners.
