Our progressive curriculum draws from an array of respected educational methods and principles: Reggio Emilia, Maria Montessori, Jean Piaget, Mel Levine, Sudbury, Alfred Adler, Erik Erickson, Bev Boss, the Slingerland Institute for Literacy, and the High Scope Educational Research Foundation. This rich and varied palette allows us to help each child learn in ways best suited to his or her personality, interests and abilities.
Our preschool has a unique Chinese immersion program that teaches children Cantonese and Mandarin. Living in San Francisco, a majority of our Chinese community speaks Cantonese, but the more widely spoken language is Mandarin. Instead of making this program 50% Chinese and English. We decided to create a program that is 100% Chinese, 50% Cantonese and 50% Mandarin. Children will learn English their whole life, but learning another language is can be difficult. Children under the age of 10 years old can learn many languages. Their brains soaks up the knowledge.

Sunset Coop Nursery School is a parent-participation school for 2- to 6-year-old children. It provides a trusting and caring environment for our children to live, learn and play.
Brotherhood Way Preschool is located on a woodland campus shared with the Brandeis School. Our play-based preschool offers year-round, full-day programs for children ages 2 through transitional kindergarten (TK). The preschool uses Jewish values and lens, features bright, spacious classrooms, 4,300 square feet of dedicated outdoor play areas, a garden space and an art studio. The mission of Forest Play Preschool to enact these goals is to bring together children's inherent curiosity and capacity for learning with the rich context of nature as an environment where that learning can occur. Through play that embodies self-sufficient practice of mindful engagement in the world of nature, children will have multiple opportunities for developing their skills of respectful thinking, critical observation and analysis, exploration through the senses, and evaluation of their surroundings.
