Tinker Preschool

Tinker Preschool is a progressive early childhood program that emphasizes the importance of connecting with nature and engaging S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) education. We are a forest program in that your children will spend about 1/2 of their time outdoors daily. We are a team of experienced educators who are passionate about building on the individual interests of children, in the classroom and beyond. Together, we have created a nurturing learning environment that encourages innovation, invites creativity, and inspires multifaceted thinking.

Petite Explorer Preschool

Petite Explorer Preschool is in the heart of the Mission District right in the middle of San Francisco. It was founded and designed by a family, for families. We created our school with the intention that children come first in our program. Inspired from ideas from the Reggio-Emilia approach as well as PBL(Project Based Learning), we believe children are competent, curious, and creative. Our mission is to provide each student the opportunity to explore, question, discover, and learn through safe and nurturing relationships and supportive environments.

Puddle Jumpers Workshop

As a parent-run, parent-staffed, cooperative pre-preschool, Puddle Jumpers Workshop helps ease the transition from home to school by providing constant contact with a community of involved families, as well as professional activity leaders. We offer a high-quality, yet affordable, daycare experience for our 12-15 member families. Up to eight children attend daily, with at least two parents on duty at all times and at least one professional preschool teacher on site each day. Puddle Jumpers Workshop is managed, funded and maintained by our members. Puddle Jumpers Workshop is inspired by the Reggio Emelia approach to early childhood learning; we emphasize free play, positive learning experiences, unconditional caring and good nutrition, relying on organic foods wherever possible. We build learning into our every day activities because we believe children respond better when they are engaged, active, and having fun.

Laurel Hill Nursery School and Pre-K

Since 1947, Laurel Hill has put play at the heart of learning. Through play, children practice sharing, listening, taking turns, and expressing big feelings—building empathy, resilience, and confidence as surely as they build towers of blocks. Research shows that this kind of open-ended exploration strengthens creativity, focus, and problem-solving. When children imagine, experiment, and make choices, they’re learning to think for themselves and to work with others—skills that last a lifetime. Here, you don’t just drop your child off—you step into their world. In our parent cooperative model, families join the classroom one day each week, seeing growth firsthand and forming friendships that often last well beyond preschool. Parents gain hands-on experience, practical tools, and a supportive community through workdays, parent education nights, and shared responsibilities. It’s more than volunteering—it’s shared joy, personal growth, and lasting connection.
