Welcome to Happy Preschool Land in Van Nuys! Happy Preschool Land has many happy years of childcare experience with fully qualified and well-trained teachers and staff within the child development field. Our Preschool facility was established in 2000. We have over 20 years of providing child care in the San Fernando Valley (we service students within the Van Nuys, Encino, Sherman Oakes, Northridge, and Granada Hills areas). We are licensed and provide childcare and educational curriculum for ages 2-6 years old, this includes preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten. We provide complimentary potty training to toddlers. We are also licensed to provide afterschool care for children ages 6-12, where children can have a safe space to go after school for tutoring, homework help, and for childcare. We have extended hours (from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm) and are open year-round. We have a flexible program for parents wanting to enroll their children in part-time or full-time childcare. Our preschool is focused on preparing our students to enter elementary with foundational knowledge that will help them excel in school. We prepare students for a graduation ceremony upon finishing preschool and kindergarten. We also have fun activities throughout the year such as a Holiday Show, Summer Camp, Valentine’s Day Candy Exchange, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Parade, Birthday Celebrations, and many more! We have a large outdoor playground area for our students on campus.

With over 20 years of experience working with young children, a Master’s degree in Science, and certification as a Preschool Director, I provide individualized care in a small-group setting where every child receives the attention they deserve. Our play-based curriculum incorporates Montessori-inspired activities and encourages learning through exploration, creativity, and hands-on experiences. Children enjoy daily activities including early literacy, math, science, music, art, gardening, baking, sensory play, and outdoor exploration while building confidence, independence, and strong social-emotional skills. Nutritious living is at the heart of our program. Children enjoy organic, homemade breakfasts, lunches, and healthy snacks prepared with purified water. I happily accommodate dietary preferences whenever possible. Our home is pet-free, features a fully gated backyard, and maintains a no-shoes indoor policy to provide a clean, healthy environment. I am Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certified. We welcome children ages 1 year and older and are committed to creating a loving, joyful place where every child can grow, learn, and flourish.

We do what we do so children can be engaged and active learners throughout life. Established in 2010, Caterpillar Cottage offers a play-based, progressive, part-time program for children ages 2.5 thru 5 years old. Our learning environment and approach are designed to support the natural love of learning of each child enrolled. Caterpillar Cottage children go on to elementary school with everything they need to thrive. We take play seriously, as the natural work of the child, providing a variety of fun-filled group and individual learning activities each day.
We have what we feel is a super special approach- uniting mindfulness, early literacy and STEM through the Reggio and RIE approach. Our curriculum focuses on mastering inquiry and using inquiry to grow all other areas of development. We also feel that inquiry is not limited to the indoor classroom. Opportunities for intentional play and learning (both planned and natural happenings) are indoors, outdoors, and really all around us! We meticulously plan both our indoor and outdoor environments to support inquiry, experience-based learning, and a strong image of the child. We integrate STEM, literacy, and number sense into our daily play, and plan multiple facets of play- art, nature, manipulatives, dramatic stations, sensory, small world play, resources, books, music, and gross motor play. We believe that getting messy, failing, making mistakes, and having a hard time with things (and friends) are also essential experiences in the early years. Above all, we are committed to cultivating a community that values children’s voices, recognizes the importance of self-directed play, prioritizes confidence, mindset, and self-image over academics, nurtures authentic relationships, and fosters a strong sense of belonging for both children and families.
