First United Methodist Church

Athens First United Methodist Church is a religious facility that offers worship services. It operates a recreation department that provides fitness and dance classes, as well as various sports activities. The church also operates an outreach ministry that conducts Bible study sessions. Athens First United Methodist Church s adult ministry has a senior fun group that serves individuals aged 55 and older. It additionally operates Weekday Preschool, which offers a range of motor skills development activities. The church s college ministry serves more than 1,500 international students. The church conducts several mission trips, fellowship outings and summer camps. Athens First United Methodist Church offers nursery care services for infants and children.

Emmanuel Episcopal Day School

Comprehensive morning program for children ages 23 months through 5 years. Play-based learning through the Creative Curriculum of art, music, math, science, and social studies that focus on executive functioning, gross motor, and fine motor skills. The Creative Curriculum learning model for planning the classrooms and teaching units. Following the standards and practices from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, we complete learning assessments for each child. Our highly qualified staff hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and many with a Master's. We also have two wonderful playgrounds with renovations to include a children’s garden coming in Fall 2023. Athens Academy is an independent, nonprofit college preparatory coeducational school founded in 1967. The school educates more than 850 students in prekindergarten through grade 12. Its curriculum includes mathematics, language arts, social studies, science and technology, business studies, computer science, English, music, drama, physical education, and arts and crafts. The school also offers advanced placement and honors courses in various subjects. It has athletic teams for football, basketball, cheerleading, swimming, baseball, cross country, soccer, golf, tennis and volleyball. The school s library and media center offers a wide variety of print and electronic resources for research, communication and relaxation to students and teachers. Located in Athens, Ga., the academy is spread over an area of more than 105 acres and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
