The CAO Head Start Program serves more than 500 children and families in over 10 sites in Buffalo, N.Y., and at the Weinberg Nursing Home in Getzville, N.Y. The program operates nearly 20 classrooms, approximately 10 full-day and more than 11 half-day sessions. It collaborates with other community agencies to offers program that includes the Buffalo Board of Education Universal Pre-K Program, Kaleida, Buffalo Hearing and Speech, Gateway Longview Therapeutic Program and Building Mentally Healthy Communities. The CAO Head Start Program offers educational, nutritional, health, mental health and social services for children and families. Its staff includes speech, physical and occupational therapist s and special education teachers. The program is a part of the Community Action Organization of Erie County.

Founded in 2001, Tapestry Charter School serves more than 450 students in kindergarten through grade 12. The school has been approved by the State University of New York Board of Trustees and the New York State Education Department. It provides speech and occupational therapies and hearing- and vision-impaired services in collaboration with Buffalo Public Schools. Tapestry Charter School features a library media center. Its academic curriculum includes art, music, dance and foreign languages. The school participates in a free and reduced price meal program.
