I am a highly experienced and qualified English literature and writing tutor and a retired attorney with a JD degree from UC Berkeley and two BA degrees in English Literature and Philosophy from UCLA. I am also the mother of two adult sons. I tutor 3rd grade thru high school over Zoom or in person at my home in Berkeley. I have students from all over the USA and other countries. Most of my students are looking for more reading and writing experiences, although I also do remediation work to help bring up school grades and work with neuro-diverse students as well. I offer one-to-one, one-hour weekly sessions and 90-minute group tutoring sessions for up to four students in the same grade. I'm different from other tutors in that I will read any appropriate book with the student, and I create all my own learning materials. Most of my group tutoring occurs in the summer with elementary school students, but it is available year-round for all grade levels if students form their own groups. I also provide full-service entrance essay assistance for applying to private school and college. Over the summer, I also provide brain-storming seminars for college entrance essay work to rising seniors. Everyone interested in my services will receive a one-hour free Zoom consultation to discuss their student's individual needs and hear how I can help (parent and student are required attendees). See SharonDSilvermanTutoring.com for more information.
