Mason Educational Mentoring

We offer two types of tutoring: Educational Therapy and Traditional Tutoring Educational Therapy The goal of Educational Therapy is to help your child attain the basic skills in reading, writing, and math needed to succeed in all subjects in school. There is also a focus on motivation and socio-emotional ability. Traditional Tutoring Students who need Traditional Tutoring may be doing well in school except for one or two subjects. Traditional Tutoring is focused on helping your child with specific skills or topics. Prior to starting tutoring, your child is assessed individually to find the strengths and areas of need in academics. We also assess interests, motivation, and learning style. A learning plan is developed using this information and utilizing the most-effective, research-based strategies. We then meet with the parents to go over the results and our recommendations for instruction. Advocacy and School Support * Review school paperwork and files to help you understand them. * Develop strategies that can be implemented at school to help your child succeed. * Help you prepare for Parent-Teacher, SST, IEP, and 504 meetings. * Attend meetings with you to support you.

A College Entrance Solution

I work one-on-one personally with high school students who would like to apply to college. I have been working with students on their college applications and helping students locate good-fit colleges since 2004. I inform families how they can save money on the cost of college and I guide students through every aspect of the college admission process. This includes preparing a college list, planning classes, knowing when to take tests, knowing which colleges are test-optional, working on ideas for extracurricular activities, working on main essays, and supplemental essays. I review the entire application before submission. I take the time to get to know each student. The many students I have worked with have received merit scholarships and entry into many UCs, Northwestern, Northeastern, College of Charleston, Stanford, USC, Yale, Wake Forest, Grinnell, Loyola Chicago, and many additional colleges. Call for a free 30-minute counseling appointment. Spots fill quickly. Best to your student in their college admission journey.
