Rainwater Tutoring is a private academic tutoring and standardized test prep practice serving families in Athens, GA and surrounding areas since 2020. What sets us apart is our diagnostic-first approach. Every engagement begins with a comprehensive assessment, not a generic placement test, but a structured evaluation designed to identify exactly where a student's understanding breaks down. We call it the "No Assumption" method: we don't guess what a student needs, we find it. We specialize in SAT and ACT preparation, GRE and LSAT prep, K-12 academic tutoring aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence, and math at every level from foundational skills through advanced coursework. Every student works directly with me, Michael Rainwater, the founder and sole tutor. There's no rotation of staff, no handoffs, no inconsistency. I build a relationship with each family and adapt instruction in real time based on what's actually working. With over 150 families served, Rainwater Tutoring combines the rigor of a structured prep program with the flexibility and personal attention that only a private practice can offer. Whether your student needs targeted score improvement on a high-stakes exam or ongoing academic support, the work starts with understanding, not assumptions.

Looking for ACT Tutoring? Hi, I’m Andrew Cox, a second-year law student at the University of Georgia offering personalized ACT tutoring services! I have experience tutoring students for the ACT and am looking to tutor a few high school students who want to improve their scores or prepare to take the test for the first time. I offer weekly lessons via Zoom (or in person), as well as help with ACT homework (which I will be assigning), and the availability to answer questions throughout the week. My rate is $25 for the first hour (where I will assess the student’s needs and develop a personalized plan) and $50 per hour for subsequent lessons. I can meet to discuss any questions about the process that you might have. If you or anyone you know is interested, feel free to reach out. It’s a great opportunity for students to get focused, one-on-one tutoring!
