Operational for over 50 years, The Playhouse in San Anselmo is a nonprofit firm involved in the business of providing low-cost theater venue for many of Marin County's finest performers and performing arts groups. Located at San Anselmo, Calif., the firm serves the community as a performing arts center for dance recitals, student performances, local and touring theatrical companies, music concerts and other innovative productions, to name a few. The Playhouse in San Anselmo provides a low-cost performance arts space to ensure that the facility would be self-supporting.
AlterTheater Ensemble produces new work and contemporary classics in storefronts along downtown San Rafael's Fourth Street. Committed to the creative growth of theater artists and to a community that is diverse, inclusive, and accepting, AlterTheater strives to make theater feel accessible to all members of our community, by producing in places where people are, and by producing work that grapples with real issues in our community.
The Ross Valley Players is the oldest continually operating community theater on the West Coast. Created in 1930 as a way to escape the hardships of the Depression, the theater has introduced live theater to thousands of Marin residents over the years.
