It is the oldest professional summer theatre in the United States. In 1999, the company finished a renovation project and became a year-round facility. The theatre has a 28-foot proscenium stage. Barnstormers Summer Theatre is equipped with a balcony and holds a capacity crowd of 282. The playhouse produces eight productions during July and August each year. From September to June, the facility is available for rental for concerts, drama and dance performances, talks and community events. Barnstormers Summer Theatre is located in Tamworth, N.H.
Established in 1940, the Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre is one of the state's oldest surviving theaters. The theater is housed within the former Edward Little High School Auditorium. Although the troupe has been performing there since 1941, it was not until 1981 that it came to be the theater's official home. The community theater continues to put up shows on a regular basis within its beautifully restored historic home.
