Society for the Performing Arts is the largest nonprofit presenting organization of its kind in the entire Southwest. Each year, Society for the Performing Arts presents internationally acclaimed artists from the entire performing arts spectrum, traditional to avant-garde alike, from large orchestras and dance companies to recitalists and solo performers, for an entire season of events. Alley Theater

The Alley Theatre, founded in 1947 by pioneering educator Nina Vance, is a professional resident theatre company. Recipient of the 1996 Special Tony Award, the Alley performs year-round in its two-theatre complex at home in downtown Houston and has toured 40 American cities and abroad. The Alley Theatre offers a variety of events and services, including children's performances, special Monday night events featuring contemporary authors, special holiday performances, backstage tours, theatre classes for young people, and post-show discussions where audiences can interact with the artists. The Alley houses its own costume, scenic and properties, lighting and sound departments, as well as rehearsal studios and administrative offices.

Mildred's Umbrella Theater Company seeks to challenge audiences and theatre artists by creating and performing bold, innovative and fresh theatrical works grounded in the best traditions of the dramatic arts. With a strong feminine presence in our artistic vision, we strive to feature the work of female playwrights, actors and directors, which promotes the empowerment of women through the performing arts.
