The Peruvian Brothers bring the authentic, unique tastes of "Comida Criolla" to the streets of Washington D.C. The history behind the Peruvian Comida Criolla cuisine is as appealing and complex as the unique combinations of flavor. With roots in Andean-Spanish-Afro-Peruvian and Asian influences, Comida Criolla boasts powerful flavors, Recipes passed down in the Lanzone family as well as Mario's own original spins on traditional Peruvian favorites give the menu an authentic taste with a unique twist. Peruvian Brothers will specialize in sandwiches and empanadas featuring chicharron (pork tenderloin), asado (beef), chicken and butifarra (pork loin) as well as vegetarian options all served with traditional Salsa Criolla, thinly sliced julienne onions marinated in lime juice with chopped Peruvian chilies. On the sweet side, alfajores, bread pudding, rice pudding and homemade Lucuma ice cream highlights the authentic flavors of the subtropical fruit native to the Andean valleys of Peru.
Wunder Garten is one of a kind bar. You not only get refreshing beer here, but this wonderful food truck and beer garden has also teamed up with REI to provide a diverse range of classes which include everything from learning about weather systems and signs to gourmet cooking and bike tours. There are also trivia nights for the nerdy and loads of outdoor activities if you are more sporty. Besides the extensive range of beers, they also have on offer house wines and cider. If you are feeling adventurous, Wunder Garten at Noma is a great place to have a fun, lively evening out and spend some quality time with old friends or to make new ones.
El Chilango serves delicious tacos at very cheap prices. This food truck is always thronged by hungry locals waiting to gorge on delectable pork, beef, chicken and tongue infused tacos. Albeit inexpensive, food is served in generous portions here with attention to presentation. Tacos can be washed down with colas and other cold beverages. The owners of the food truck are very friendly people and they're always open to feedback and suggestions.
