Unlike many centers in the area, our center is an educational preschool that is led and taught by experienced staff with an average of over 18 years of experience. Our program is low-ratio and is focused on all of your child's needs including social, emotional, physical and academic development. Mind and Body Kids uses a thoughtfully developed, in-house curriculum rather than a commercially branded one. It was created by two of our founding members, both of which are individuals that hold a B.A degree in Early Childhood Education and possess over 30 years of experience in the field. Our curriculum is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children while providing meaningful opportunities for learning through play, exploration, social interaction, creativity, and hands-on experiences. We believe that preschool is not only about learning letters, numbers, shapes and colors. Those academic skills are important, but children are also developing something even more fundamental: the life skills they will need to succeed in school and in life. These skills don’t always appear as a worksheet or a completed lesson. They happen throughout the day – in conversations, play, conflicts, transitions, group activities, creative experiences, and everyday classroom routines. Our curriculum allows the teachers to observe the children, understand their developmental needs, and adapt activities accordingly. I decided 17 years ago to open up my home to care for children to give parents a much better alternative for childcare. As a parent, who cares for your child is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. In my Daycare (home) your child will feel welcome, valued and loved and receive the best care possible. I love adapting to the specific needs of all the different little ones…whether it’s making up stories about a dark pink mermaid in the sea playing with her friends to to help her go potty, singing in a silly voice and dancing during learning time to get the kids more engaged in learning, suddenly becoming a dinosaur or a shark and chasing the kids, becoming a pirate and hiding the treasure for the kids to find or holding a precious baby and whispering to them that they I love them and they’re safe and ok.
