Through the IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program, Young Explorer learning centers were granted to nine non-profit early learning programs in Broward County. This exciting award was made possible through a grant from IBM, which collaborated with Gifts In Kind International ( GIKI ) to distribute the learning centers. The Early Learning Coalition of Broward, Inc was one of 16 Coalitions that received learning centers through the Association of Early Learning Coalitions ( AELC ) which received the initial grant and coordinated the distribution throughout Florida to Coalitions. Selection criteria for computer recipients in Broward included an essay submission along with the requirement that the child care provider be non-profit. The centers receiving computers included: Ascension Peach Child Care, First Christian Church Day School, First United Methodist Preschool, Miramar United Methodist Preschool, Mount Bethel Christian Academy, Redeeming Word Christian Academy, Susie C. Holley Cradle Nursery, School of Islamic Studies, and Temple Beth Orr.

Montessori education is built around how children actually learn. Each child works at their own pace, follows their curiosity, and grows more capable in an environment prepared for exactly that. The change parents notice first is usually the simplest one: their child wants to come to school. Walk into one of our Fort Lauderdale classrooms and you might see a young child carefully pouring water, another choosing their own math work, or an older student showing a younger friend how something is done. Small moments like these, repeated daily, are how independence, confidence, and concentration take root. Our Guides observe closely, offer support when a child needs it, and give children room to discover things for themselves.
