Children’s Council of San Francisco offers a variety of services to support your family including finding child care that meets your needs and securing financial assistance to pay for it. Families are also offered individual counseling in-person, by phone or via email, free referrals to licensed child care programs in San Francisco, information on various types of child care and how they differ, placement services for children with special needs and a full range of family support and child development workshops. For child care providers, we help market your services and connect with families who receive subsidies, provide nutrition and wellness support for children in your program, utilize technology, like texting, email and social media to connect with families, create a child care business that serves your community and is financially sustainable and personally rewarding, and help you plan for emergencies and to save for the future.
United Playaz is a violence prevention and youth leadership organization that works with San Francisco's hardest to reach youth through case management, street outreach, in-school services, recreational activities at community centers, and support to incarcerated youth. United Playaz is committed to improving the lives of young people surviving in vulnerable environments, show high incidence of truancy and low academic performance, or have been involved in the juvenile justice system through direct service and community collaboration. United Playaz believes that "it takes the hood to save the hood".
Previously known as the Girls Club, this organization was founded to provide a space for women where they could learn new skills and showcase their talent. The club organized several cultural and social events throughout the year. However, in 1942, a need for providing support to the entire community was felt and the Community Chest suggested that the Girls Club extend their boundaries and include boys and families too. Thus, the Girls Club was transformed into Mission Community Center. In 1959, all the neighborhood centers joined forces and Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc replaced the Mission Community Center. This centers continue its endeavors and strive for the youth and the community. Apart from supporting families, children and senior citizens, the center also focuses on promoting art and culture.
