Founded in 1964, Roxbury Multi-Service Center provides a wide variety of in-house, community outreach and advocacy services for residents of the Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan areas in Boston. It offers full line of services that include adolescent and family support programs, sexual assault and violence prevention and intervention, emergency assistance, homeless shelter, mental health care, and counseling and education services. The center also organizes various academic, educational, economic, cultural and social activities. In addition, Roxbury Multi-Service Center provides education on a variety of issues impacting the community, such as homelessness, socio-economic conditions, employment situations, health concerns, community development, and family unity and counseling needs. Founded in 1972, The Hockomock Area YMCA is a nonprofit charitable community service organization of men, women and children of various ages, ethnic origins, religious affiliations and socioeconomic levels. It supports and organizes more than 750 programs in a variety of fields, such as dance, computers, child care, aquatics, arts and humanities, health and fitness, sports, families, adventure, and party and fun. The Hockomock Area YMCA provides services in the communities of Bellingham, Mansfield, North Attleboro, Plainville, Foxboro, Milford, Sharon, Franklin, Millis, Walpole, Hopedale, Norfolk and Wrentham, Mass. It also operates skateboard parks for community youth in North Attleboro and Franklin, Mass. The YMCA provides more than 3,000 scholarships to children every year.
