Youth Service is a community-based, nonprofit social service agency that provides shelter and immediate help to children and families. Operational for more than 50 years, the agency offers emergency shelter for homeless and runaway children. It also provides 24-hour emergency care, as well as foster care and placement services. Youth Service serves more than 5,000 children and adults annually. The agency additionally provides truancy prevention services. Its crisis nursery program offers emergency care for families with young children. The agency is a member of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Child Welfare League of America. Youth Emergency Service is a program that offers crisis care and emergency shelter solutions. The program provides short-term housing and therapeutic support services for young people facing abuse, neglect, homelessness and family conflict problems. It offers individual, group and family counseling services. Youth Emergency Service also provides therapy and advisory solutions to children and families. The program serves more than 150 children annually. It accommodates girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 18. The program conducts educational and recreational groups that address self-esteem, anger management, and social and life skill issues weekly.
