Siskin Children's Institute improves the quality of life for children with special needs and their families. It serves children, families and professionals through Siskin School and the Siskin Training and Resource Center. Its schools curriculum includes language, social behavior, literacy, mathematics, social studies and science. It also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including music classes, gardening and harvesting, art activities and field trips. Its school provides preschool education to young children with disabilities, including children with developmental delays. Its Siskin Training and Resource Center shares information reading disabilities with families, college students and professionals through an array of outreach programs. Its training and resources center additionally offers library, community workshops and training and consultation services in education and health fields, and is located in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The YMCA is a social and welfare organization that offers a variety of programs for active adults, youths and senior citizens. It provides fitness classes, health and wellness seminars, educational classes, personalized training programs and various sports leagues. YMCA organizes day, family and resident camps that include field trips, games, swimming, and arts and crafts. It also offers character development, citizenship and social service programs in collaboration with local school districts. The organization additionally provides child care programs for infants, preschoolers and higher-grade students. YMCA maintains a presence in Chattanooga, Tenn.
