The services and activities at First United Methodist Church extend beyond the usual sermons and Bible readings, and include age-appropriate programs for the entire family. Parent’s Day Out is one such project that imparts pre-kindergarten training to infants and toddlers. The curriculum is comprehensive and includes plenty of games, introductory science, computers and music. It has multiple choirs such as Joyful Singers, Children's Chime and Cherub Choir, which render soulful hymns during services. The church is part of The Family Promise Network that enlists volunteers to help the homeless all over the country. It also supports organizations like Methodist Mission Home, Brighter Tomorrows and New Life School in Guatemala for social development.
