The Florida Department of Transportation is responsible for providing transportation services throughout Florida. The department has partnerships with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Department of Transportation and Florida Metropolitan Planning Organization Advisory Council. It offers environmental management, project development and training services. The Florida Department of Transportation undertakes highway and road construction projects. It provides vegetation management and landscaping services. The department conducts the Transportation Enhancement Program, which is a federal program that receives financial assistance from the Federal Highway Administration. It additionally installs markers on several designated state roads. The Florida Department of Transportation offers maintenance and project handling services.
St. John s County Road and Bridge Department provides general maintenance for all county roadways and drainage facilities, including roadway construction, pothole repair, culvert replacements, ditch cleaning, road grading, and removal and cutting back of trees in the county. The department also provides services for mining operations in the county s borrow pits, and various functions needed to keep roadways safe, and storm water facilities functional. In addition, road and bridge supervisors provide the service of staking culvert and swale driveway elevations for new residential and commercial driveways, and follow up through to final inspections. The road and bridge department is a part of St. John s County Public Works department. It is located in St. Augustine, Fla.
