The city of Lubbock has four public libraries, and the Mahon Library located in the downtown area is the main library for all the branches. The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Libraries of the Health Sciences is a library system that offers educational resources for curricular, research and patient care information needs of students, faculty and staff members. Founded in 1971, its libraries maintain a selection of textbooks and study materials for allied health, biomedical and pharmacy students. The libraries also have electronic subscriptions of more than 35,000 e-books and over 15,000 e-journals. The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Libraries of the Health Sciences host instructional workshops on the use of biomedical electronic tools and databases. In addition, its libraries serve students pursuing baccalaureate, masters, doctoral and professional courses. The libraries are accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
