The Springfield Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of the City's public way infrastructure that includes streets, sidewalks, street signs, traffic signals and catch basins. The department operates the Single Stream Recycling Pilot Program. It is operated by the government of the City of Springfield in Massachusetts. The department offers a range of waste disposal and recycling services. It is also responsible for the grant of trenching and Street Opening and occupancy permits. In addition, the Springfield Department of Public Works provides hazardous waste disposal, bulk pickup, project and construction management, and stormwater and pollution prevention services.
