Non-profit Organization
We are a non-profit open club that follows the Toastmasters program that welcomes anyone who is interested in being part of a friendly group of individuals with a goal to improve public speaking, presentation and leadership skills. Club members learn communication skills by working in the self-paced educational program called Pathways, designed to instill a basic foundation in public speaking. Participants learn skills related to the use of humor, vocal variety, gestures, eye contact, speech organization, overall delivery, and more. Members learn leadership skills by taking on various meeting roles and serving as officers at the club level or higher while working on Pathways and the High-Performance Leadership programs. In our learn-by-doing approach, we don't lecture our members about leadership; we give them opportunities to practice and develop those skills. There is no instructor in our meeting. Yet there is structure. We evaluate each member's presentations as peers. This feedback is a key part of the program's success. Our feedback is always presented in a positive and encouraging format that fosters confidence and communication skills.
We are a non-profit, community-based social service agency serving the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late-Deafened and Deaf-blind community.
