Bodi’s Road Home is a West Texas initiative born from the loss of our son, Bodi Lee Smith, who was born with a rare congenital heart defect and spent his short life receiving specialized care far from home. Our mission is to turn our family’s experience into practical support for other West Texas families facing the same difficult road. We are working to establish travel assistance for families who must leave home to access specialized pediatric cardiac care, helping with expenses such as gas, mileage, lodging, meals and tolls. What makes Bodi’s Road Home unique is our local focus. We are building a mission specifically around the families of West Texas who often have to travel significant distances for the care their children need. We understand that journey personally—not just from a distance, but from the hospital room, the highway, the financial strain and the uncertainty that comes with having a critically ill child far from home. Bodi’s Road Home is being built quickly and intentionally in Bodi’s memory, with one simple belief at the center of it all: no family should have to navigate that road alone.
