REAL Services is the Area Agency on Aging for the five county areas of Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall and St. Joseph, Ind. The agency provides in-home and community services to the elderly, disabled and low-income individuals. It provides person centered planning for home and community-based care. The agency offers research and development program, including counseling and referral, meals on wheels, foster grandparent, home weatherization, single-parent self-sufficiency and retired senior volunteer programs. It additionally has the homeless program that provides Department of Agriculture commodities to food pantries, soup kitchens and homeless shelters. The agency s Medicare counseling program provides assistance to senior citizens on insurance needs and Medicare claims. REAL Services was founded in 1966 and is located in South Bend, Ind.
