The Street Department is responsible for overseeing the repair, cleaning and maintenance of public streets, alleys and other right of-ways. It also provides waste collection and disposal services. The department operates permits, street, refuse, traffic and lighting, auto towing and storage and port authority divisions. The Street Department offers snow removal and street resurfacing, repair and cleaning services. It also provides wharf cleaning and maintenance services on the riverfront. The department s transportation and traffic division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of traffic signals and signs and street painting. The Street Department is a part of the City of St. Louis government, which operates fire, human services, information technology, personnel, police and water departments. The department is located in St. Louis.
