The Unitarian Universalists of San Mateo can be found at East Santa Inez Avenue. The elegant architecture of the historic church is hard to miss as you drive along, its square tower rising above gabled roofs beneath which the congregation gathers in worship and prayer. The Unitarian Universalist congregation of San Mateo was formed in 1952, but did not move into its present home until 1971 when the First Methodist Church that originally resided here moved out. Although over a century old, the building has been lovingly maintained and cared for by the congregation, rendering it a fine place to celebrate the glory of God. Sunday services are held at the church at 10a each week, and newcomers are welcomed with open arms. Besides regular religious services, the church also supports a vibrant music ministry and outreach programs, as well as offers religious education for children, youth and adults.
