As a progressive congregation celebrating two Protestant traditions, we are learning, living and changing lives together. Our mission is "to be the Church of Jesus Christ Alive through prayer, teaching, community, proclamation of justice and hope, and service to the end that all discover and be equipped for ministry." The United Churches of Olympia is a federation of two mainline Protestant denominations: the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the United Church of Christ. This means that we exist as two congregations in one. When new members come to join, they are given the choice to join one of our denominations or simply join as a member of The United Churches of Olympia (or TUCO as we like to call ourselves).
The Olympia Union Gospel Mission, established in 1995, provides safety, shelter and support to homeless and poverty stricken individuals. The organization s Life Recovery Center offers daily meals and daytime shelter, as well as emotional support and care for troubled individuals. It also provides counseling, addiction recovery and other support services to people. The Olympia Union Gospel Mission assists single women with children in finding a safe place to live and care for their children while recovering from addictions, abuse, divorce and emotional traumas through the Genesis Acres Recovery Program. It offers the Abigail's ministry for women suffering from the affects of domestic violence. The organization also operates a recovery program for men, as well as dental and eye care services. The Olympia Union Gospel Mission is located in Olympia, Wash.
We are a church that wants to tell people about Jesus. We love the Bible and we love people. Come visit us for Sunday Worship!
Eckankar teaches . . . Soul is eternal. Soul exists because God loves It. Soul is on a journey of Self- and God-Realization. Spiritual unfoldment can be accelerated through conscious contact with the ECK, Divine Spirit. This contact can be made via the Spiritual Exercises of ECK and the guidance of the Living ECK Master. You can actively explore the spiritual worlds through Soul Travel, dreams, and other spiritual techniques. Spiritual experience and liberation in this lifetime are available to all.
