"Painless Japanese Acupuncture" "Precision" "A self-healing power within" Boulder Japanese Acupuncture clinic uses the Yojo Acupuncture System. The eminent 17th century practitioner Kaibara wrote a book on Yojo. Yo 養 means nourish and cultivate something precious. Jo 生 is your life and body. The Yojo Acupuncture System is to regulate three key areas: stress, digestion, and blood circulation. The simple system activates a self-healing power within. " I was feeling unsupported and nervous system overload. And mourning. After the treatment I felt lighter and relieved that the dreck had been removed from me. I felt like I could move on now." - Kelly, Boulder Colorado. "After a stroke, I have been suffering from facial paralysis and fatigue. Acupuncture has provided a significant improvement, especially for my uneven eye and mouth. I am relieved that these issues are improving" - Lyndsey, Lousville, Colorado.

Chris La Rosa has been a Board Certified Acupuncturist for 20 years, who specializes in gentle, painless Japanese Acupuncture. Japanese acupuncture uses thinner needles and shallower insertions, which results in more gain for less, or no pain. Acupuncturists using the Japanese method palpate the abdomen. When I do this, I’m gathering information about the body’s organ systems, which enables me to adjust the treatment to fit the patient’s needs. Japanese acupuncture makes extensive use of moxibustion to heighten the effectiveness of the acupuncture treatment. Moxa is a plant whose dried leaves are burned on needles or smoldered directly on the skin. The pleasant, therapeutic heat is a powerful tonic and improves circulation. I use seven different methodologies of moxibustion, depending on the patient’s complaint. Japanese acupuncture does not limit treatment to a single point; if a patient complains of back pain, we will also treat appropriate areas all along the involved meridian.

How does acupuncture work? Oriental medicine has a rich and successful history that reaches back thousands of years. In a few words, acupuncture and herbal therapy rebalance the body so it can heal itself. The ancient medicine accesses meridians, or channels, that run the length of the body and carry energy, or "qi." The energy along these meridians and the acupuncture points on the meridians can become imbalanced, creating pain and disease. Acupuncture gently reminds the body how to get back in harmony as well as prevents disharmony before it arises. Acupuncture promotes blood circulation and releases endorphins. It affects certain areas of the brain that release hormones and stimulates the release of neurotransmitters to bring the body into better balance.
