Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center has provided Garland, Richardson, Rockwall and the surrounding areas quality compassionate orthopedic care for over 30 years. In addition to sports medicine, Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center (OSMC) offers treatment for osteoporosis, hand, shoulder and other bone related injuries. Our expanded services allow for the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and osteoporosis all under one roof. Our centers original location near Shiloh and Walnut roads is adjacent to Baylor Medical Center of Garland. The practice expanded in 2005, adding an office at George Bush Freeway (I-90) and Renner Roads in the Methodist Hospital Physicians Pavillion. Dr. R. David Bauer is a Board Certified Orthopedist specializing in Spinal Disease and founder of the The Spine Center. He is nationally recognized as both a physician and teacher with more than 25 years of clinical experience in treating spine disorders and injuries. He oversees all treatment at the Center. Dr. Bauer received his MD Degree in 1983 from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed his Orthopedic Residency at New York University in 1988 before serving as a Medical Officer in the United States Air Force. Dr. Bauer then completed specialty training in Spinal Care with the Departments of Orthopedics and Neurosurgery at the University of California San Diego in 1992. He went on to become Chief of the Orthopedic Spine Service at West Virginia University Medical Center and an Assistant Professor there.
