Although we offer surgical options for the care of the spine and the extremities, we engage the well-qualified local resources that are available for the non-operative management of the neuro-musculosketal system as a first line of treatment when appropriate. Our orthopaedic and spine surgeon, Dr. Miguel Schmitz, MD, is board certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and he has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine from the same Board. He is fellowship trained in both Spine Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine & Arthroscopy.

Shaun Peterson, M.D, orthopedics, joined MultiCare Rockwood Clinic in August 2010. He received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, and his medical degree from the University of Texas in Galveston. Dr. Peterson is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and belongs to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, California Orthopaedic Association and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons.
