Gilbert Huang, DPM, is a board-certified podiatrist and wound care specialist at West America Foot and Ankle in San Mateo, California. Dr. Huang is fluent in Mandarin and enjoys helping patients of all ages with their foot and ankle conditions, including individuals who need geriatric foot care or specialized diabetic wound care. Dr. Huang is a Californian native with Taiwanese heritage. He was raised in Fremont, California, and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California San Diego. During his undergraduate years, Dr. Huang was a chess instructor for elementary students and volunteered at Alvarado Hospital Medical Center. Starting his medical journey, Dr. Huang began his career as a lab research intern at the Scripps Research Center and the MIND Institute for imaging research and microscopy. Passionate about gaining experience, he attended a mission trip through a Chinese Evangelical Church outreach program and provided medical support to people in Rancho Agua Viva, Mexico. He received a merit scholarship to pursue his doctorate in podiatric medicine at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. With over four decades in practice as a podiatrist, David J. Kaplan, DPM, is an expert in diagnosing and treating ailments that affect the foot and ankle. He welcomes new and existing patients to FootCare Specialists, Inc. in San Mateo, California. Dr. Kaplan earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now part of Kent State University) in Cleveland. He went on to complete a comprehensive foot and ankle residency program in the Detroit area at the former Memorial Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Dr. Kaplan then became the director of the podiatric residency program at Sidney A. Sumby Memorial Hospital in River Rouge, Michigan. Because providing the latest research-driven treatments is important to Dr. Kaplan, he continues his education through ongoing courses and training. Dr. Kaplan maintains his board certification through the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.
