St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® was opened on February 4, 1962 by actor and entertainer Danny Thomas. St. Jude has worked tirelessly since then to treat and research childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Treatments developed at St. Jude have helped push the U.S. childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80%. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live. St. Jude believes that all children should be given the quality care that they deserve. Because the majority of St. Jude funding comes from generous donors, it has the freedom to focus on what matters most — saving kids regardless of their financial situation.
