Anchorage Birth Center (ABC) opened its doors in August of 2015 and is exclusively utilized by the midwives of Midwifery and Women's Health Care (MWHC) at Geneva Woods. MWHC has been participating in out-of-hospital births for more than 13 years, since its inception in 2002. Prior to the opening of ABC the midwives of MWHC utilized the facilities of Geneva Woods Birth Center for their out-of-hospital births. It is the belief of Anchorage Birth Center that pregnancy and childbirth are natural extensions of the human experience; with respect to the individuality and uniqueness of each woman and her family's experience. Caregivers support this experience through collaborative, compassionate care for the mother and her family.
One Family is a place that facilitates healthy, natural beginnings for growing families. One Family Focuses on the care and support of Women's health. One Family Birth Center provides the space for Licensed Midwives and Advanced Nurse Practitioners, that meet the state of Alaska qualifications to become clinical staff members to safely and comfortably practice within the documented scope of practice. The service One Family provides is as a birth and family centered community space, a birthing facility, clinic setting and a referral source to match our clients with a midwife. One Family is not owned by an individual provider and is a community labor of love. One Family has a unique variety of retail items geared toward expectant mothers and newborns. The phone is staffed 24-7 and is always available to be opened by appointment.
