I started my midwifery practice 26 years ago, and am thrilled and gratified to be offering safe and joyful birth to my mothers and fathers at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley ever since. Beginning as an apprentice in 1976 making tea at home births, I received my Master's degree in nurse-midwifery at UCSF. As an experienced and trusted midwife in Labor and Delivery, I work well with the team of excellent back-up OB's and nurses on the unit. I am the private practice midwifery representative on the Quality Improvement Committee, and the OB Executive Committee. I provide the traditional, personal bedside support families want, in a safe, respectful environment .I welcome all women, including those desiring VBAC. Most insurance will cover either all or a good portion of my fee.

Pacifica Family Maternity Center provides an option for out of hospital maternity care and birthing for low risk pregnant families, including prenatal care, care during the birth, and postpartum care out to six weeks. Care at Pacifica includes prenatal education group sessions and facilitated postpartum support and education groups, as well as 24/7 access to midwifery expertise and counseling.

At Take Root Home Insemination, I provide holistic fertility counseling and assisted intrauterine insemination (IUI) in the comfort of your home, on your schedule! At Nourish Midwifery, I provide primary care throughout the childbearing cycle. You will receive individualized prenatal and postpartum appointments in your home, labwork, annual exams, breast/chest exams, and well-baby care after your little one arrives. Michelle can offer guidance in nutritional, herbal, and body-mind health and healing.
