This church was founded in 1823, and the impressive cathedral was built in the French Gothic style right in the heart of what is now Midtown. The contrast between the architecture of this beautiful building and the skyscrapers surrounding it is breathtaking. The church offers regular Episcopal services, but the highlight of any visit is the renowned St. Thomas Choir.

MoreSt. Thomas Church 1 W 53rd St - St. Thomas Church impressed me with its beautiful Gothic architecture and peaceful atmosphere. The interior is very impressive, with lovely details and stained glass. I liked that even in the middle of busy New York you can find such a quiet and spiritual place. It’s perfect for a short stop and a break from the city noise. Admission was free.
MoreSt. Thomas is a very wonderful and accepting Episcopal church located in the heart of New York City near Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall. I really enjoy going to St. Thomas Church for the very first time. Saint Thomas Church is an Episcopal parish church of the Episcopal Diocese of New York at 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Also known as Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue or Saint Thomas Church in the City of New York, the parish was incorporated on January 9, 1824. Stunning chapel! A hidden gem!
MoreI've passed by this church a few times but have never stepped inside until now. I'm glad I did!St. Thomas Church is a Gothic-style Episcopal parish church and free to enter. The architecture is both beautiful and reverent, creating a serene atmosphere that's ideal for reflection. One of the highlights is the lovely mini museum, which features fascinating artifacts that tell the story of the church’s origins.I came by during my lunch hour and it wasn't busy; there was a mass wrapping up in one of the chapels.I spent almost a half hour reading and marveling at the interesting items on display. It enriches the experience and offers wonderful insights into its history. St. Thomas is a great destination for both locals and visitors alike and does a great job of blending spirituality with a rich historical narrative.
