tripadvisorThe CU Art Museum is small but worth a stop if you are in the area. There are three rooms of special exhibits so it will be different each time you visit. The pieces are well documented and explained. Takes about an hour, depending on how interested you are in the works.
MoreWe came for the special exhibit. However, there is a room filled with curiosities like taxidermy, old Atari games (which they could play) and science equipment. There were even videos of MRIs done while people moved (talking, kissing, twins in utero) that as a physician I found fascinating. It is small, but free.
MoreThe CU Art Museum rotates most of their exhibits 3 times a year. They have a diverse collection of their own and work with student and professional artist to keep their exhibit rooms filled and fresh.
MoreHusband and I attended the opening last night of ANONYMOUS: Contemporary Tibetan Art. We were blown away by most of the works on view. They are mostly from the Shelley and Donald Rubin Private Collection......painting,sculpture, installations. The artists are from the Himalayas AND around the world. The exhibition goes from Feb.14-May 9,2015......the CU Art Museum is located in the Visual Arts Complex near Bway and Euclid...on campus. Admission is free. While there, take in small and interesting items in the additional galleries. A TRUE TREAT.
MoreThe CU Art Museum (CUAM) explores themes of cognition, perception, and materiality in two exhibitions opening September 6, 2014. ART/TEKNE: Part 3 Metaphorming Nature: Connecting Human/Nature’s Creative Potential presents a new installation by Colorado- based artist Todd Siler, and A Table (somewhat): Conversations Between Objects is the inaugural exhibition curated by recently appointed Director and Chief Curator Sandra Q. Firmin. Todd Siler’s large-scale installation Metaphorming Nature features a selection of artworks that interpret what nature makes and what we make of nature. The installation replicates the limbic system—the heart of the human brain—where intuitions, feelings and emotions are integrated and interpreted. The title of Richard Artschwager’s Table (Somewhat) proposes a parenthetical quandary. If its existence as a table is called into question one might reasonably wonder What, if not a table?” A Table (Somewhat) is the first in a series of exhibitions subtitled Conversations Between Objects, which provokes a dialog between artworks that span different times and places.
