Theatre Charlotte, Charlotte's community theatre, has been changing lives since 1927. Our mission is to create outstanding theatre opportunities relevant to the people of the Charlotte region. We are committed to making theatre relevant in the lives of more people by demonstrating that theatre engages, inspires and unites community. We fulfill this commitment through our programming and other initiatives. Our Main Stage Series consists of five productions selected for their broad-based community appeal. In partnership with Vito Abate, we present a monthly themed reading and performance series called just do it, ' which provides an outlet for area performers, writers, singers, filmmakers, musicians and dancers. We have established a holiday tradition with our annual production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Our 24 Hour Theatre Project is a unique event in which six ten-minute plays are written, cast, rehearsed and presented to an audience all within 24 hours! Additional programming includes a New Year's Eve Celebration, a murder mystery dinner theatre ( Wine, Chocolate and Murder ), Junior Cabaret showcasing the talent of young people, ages 8-18 and a musical movie series, where the audience can sing along to such movies as Rocky Horror Picture Show and Grease. Theatre Charlotte also sponsors the Student Theatre Guild, a city-wide theatre club for teens, ages 14-18. Theatre Charlotte is a non-profit 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) organization, with a volunteer board of directors and a paid staff of 3 full-time employees and 1 part-time employee. Through our Main Stage and Stage 501 series, Theatre Charlotte provides many volunteer opportunities for performers, backstage workers and ushers, while guest directors, designers, music directors, choreographers and musicians are hired on a per show basis. Auditions for Theatre Charlotte productions are open to anyone in the Charlotte region. As the oldest continuously producing community theatre in North Carolina, Theatre Charlotte is proud of its heritage and its long-time tradition of production excellence.

tripadvisorShow and performers were fantastic! This little theatre was a great find and the quality of the show for the price paid was well worth it. There isn't much slope to the floor so you may be a little disappointed with the views depending on your seats and who is in front of you (saw some with booster seats in the back row). Would still go back for another show...no doubt.
MoreSmall theater venue. You are up close and personal with the stage. Really enjoyable experience. Nice clean little theater that is a Charlotte institution. The only issue is the parking is extremely limited.
MoreRecently watched a performance of A Christmas Carol in Theatre Charlotte. Loved the small size and the suburban location. With the location comes some parking challenges - it has a small lot and the rules around street parking were not clear. That was the only negative though as my wife and 9 year old son really enjoyed the performance. We will definitely come back.
MoreHad a birthday party for a friend and then we went to see Ain’t Misbehavin tonight. What a great show. Quirky and cool venue where every seat in the house is a great seat. Cast was professional. Band was off the charts. Piano man was impressive. We drove down 50 miles from Conover to see the show and well worth the drive. We are looking to see what shows are next.
MoreExciting performance in a nice venue. Free parking a plus out of the center city mainstream. Will definitely be looking for other performances here
