tripadvisorOur dance studio had their end of the year performances here, so I was around for many days in a row to block the dances on the stage and then watch the performances. The space is great! Music is WAY too loud, but maybe in my 40s, I'm just uncool and deaf?!? I was really put off by the staff. Just a sense of uncaring and snooty-ness. Unfortunately one of my children wet their pants. Thank goodness it was in a bathroom stall, but it was still a mess. I went to the front to tell someone and see if we needed to get a mop to clean it up. Their response was just leave it, the cleaning staff will take care of it tonight or tomorrow. Umm, WHAT?!? I couldn't just leave it..it was a 1/2 inch puddle (at least), so I started putting down paper towels to try and mop it up and another staff member in the bathroom couldn't be bothered to help me in any way, but wanted to tell me how to do the cleanup. WOW! I left many layers of paper towels on the floor because I didn't want anyone-adult or child alike- to accidently hit it and fall. Maybe that wasn't the right choice, but when the facility doesn't care and you have to make the best decision for the public that's using the space, it's frustrating! Also, knowing we had to be out by a certain time, there was no mention from the staff to leave as soon as you could. There were groups of people just standing around talking and staff members just watching, knowing our group would be charged for being in the space over our time...maybe they do that on purpose to be able to charge extra, which is also disgraceful!
MoreThe Cary Arts Center is a repurposed high school dedicated to the arts – both performances to attend as well as classes to take. Cherry Wonderdog looks forward to participating!
MoreWe were happy to get back to see a live performance and Cary Arts is a lovely place to do that. I had ordered tickets well in advance so that the seats were on the aisle and 2 that were separated from other seats. It was perfect - didn’t feel closed in. The show was Good Shot Judy, a jazz group that is very talented and they performed as a group as well as with individual performances. It was very entertaining and I look forward to the next one I purchased in November.
MoreWe were involved with the Cary Arts Center when our children were young. Originally, the classes were held at the Jordan Arts Center, then moved to this building after it was refurbished. Among the classes taken were watercolor, pottery, and jewelry. Very impressed by the knowledge and dedication of the instructors.
MoreWe were toward the back and we could hear and see just fine. I personally appreciated the leg room - my knees were not up against the seat in front of me. At 6’3” this is a major plus. We weren’t aware that snacks and drinks would be available for purchase. That too is nice ... but probably more so for beer and wine than for a hotdog!
