A recent off-day in Los Angeles prompted me to take a tour of one of the nation's most iconic stadiums: the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. At $50 for an approximately 90-minute tour, football and architecture fans will enjoy the various behind-the-scenes spots you're able to visit. Tour stops include the President's Suite (it's sprawling!) within the Founders Club ($2 million per year for 10 years to have a suite here), up to the seventh floor for spectacular views of greater Los Angeles if the skies are clear, down to the locker rooms (the visitors' room is less-than;-), through the tunnel and onto the field level. The tour finishes under the iconic peristyle where visitors are able to look at the many plaques of those notables who've been to the Coliseum through its over 100-plus years.

Overall atracks rated 8.9/10.We went to the Iowa USC football game. It was terrible weather raining the entire time. There isn’t many areas to stand that are not outside. The only section is the tunnel going into the stadium, but that’s a safety hazard. The stadium is very unique since it will host the upcoming Olympics. Good sight-lines.

Well it wasn't the rain that spoiled the day, nor the fact that Iowa lost to the Trojans, blowing a 21-10 half time lead. We had an elderly friend with us who we needed to use the ADA elevator and pick up after the game. Talk about lack of signage and the ability for ANY of the parking attendants to even remotely know where I could go to pick our friend up. Three times I stopped at a a gated parking lot near the ADA gate and not one of the attendant would even talk to me about where to go or let me in for 5 minutes to pick this lady up. A world class venue for the Olympics? I would think not based on my experience yesterday.

With all due respect to the neighboring Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has been described as the greatest stadium in the world. Completed in 1923 as a memorial to Los Angeles veterans of World War 1, it will become the first stadium to host the Summer Olympics when it hosts the Games in 2028, having hosting previously in 1932 and 1984. Located at 3911 South Figueroa Street in the Exposition Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, adjacent to the USC campus, it is a multi-purpose stadium that has hosted the Rams, Chargers, Dodgers, Raiders, USC and UCLA over the years. It hosted the White Sox/Dodgers World Series in 1959 and the first Super Bowl in 1967. Also Super Bowl V11 in 1973. And a Papal Mass. On March 29, 2008, a Dodgers/Red Sox preseason game set a world record for the largest attendance ever at a baseball game with a crowd of 115,300. And it attracted 135,000 people on the final night of the Billy Graham Crusade in 1963. Today, the LA Coliseum has a capacity of 93,000. Many visitors come to see the Memorial Court of Fame, which is located at the Peristyle end of the Coliseum and features plaques of more than 50 individuals and events that have made an impact on the Coliseum. including Billy Graham, Knute Rockne, Pope John Paul 11, Nelson Mandela and Babe Didricksen. It has been added to the National Register of Historic Places and designated as a National Historic Landmark. The complex also includes the 15,000-seat Sports Arena, which opened in 1959.

After viewing the closing ceremony of Paris Olympics, we are looking forward to Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.Our Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is an iconic and historic stadium in California, and we are excited to host the global event in the United States.
