tripadvisorIn my walk around the Capitol, I noticed this large house behind an iron fence and it was an unexpected surprise to see the Governor's Mansion. It was a nice house, but not really Nebraskan. It's colonial column facade seemed more suited for an eastern Capitol. Still several of the trees and plants were in bloom and pretty. Additionally, you could see it from the 14th floor observatory of the Capitol. Most states do not have their mansion that close to Capitol. I guess it is a practical location which did seem so Nebraskan.
MoreThe Governor's residence is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is within walking distance of the capital. We did not have access to the residence but were able to see through the iron fence.
MoreThe tour of the Governor's Mansion was a delight. The staff were quite friendly and eager to answer any questions we had. If you ever get a chance to go there I would recommend it!
MoreIt's always interesting to see where the governor lives. Right across the street from the capitol which shouldn't be missed on a trip to lincoln.
MoreYes, this was once the Governor's Mansion. But compared to home being built today in exclusive neighborhoods, this Mansion is well past it's time. I'm not really sure if it gets used much or if its just a icon of the State. Its was fun to tour and there is plenty of history here, The staff was very nice and the place is kept nice. I don't think kids today would really appreciate visiting, but adults still might like it. Located near the Capitol so you can visit both at the same time.
