tripadvisorOriginally located at what was the City of Faith hospital Oral Roberts commissioned some years back. These hands have been relocated to their current location at the west entrance to ORU/Oral Roberts University. Legend has it that the crane operator was struggling to get the hands to stay upright, he just couldn't get them positioned and clapped tight. Finally, in the afternoon, the operator got an idea. He climbed from the crane and pulled a dollar bill from his wallet. He taped it to the end of a cable dangling from the boom, and then lowered it between the hands. Those hands swung up and slammed together around that dollar so hard that, to this day, it's still in there. As I said, this is purely legend. I can neither prove or disprove it as fact, but if it made you laugh, or even smile just a little, you might want to check this attraction out if you find yourself nearby.
MorePraying hands is a giant sculpture of a praying hands at Oral Roberts University,Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its good spot if you want to have a quiet moment to meditate.
MoreIt was worth stopping by to see the giant praying hands, a testimony to the focus only Oral Roberts and his ministry. It was great to be able to see this up close.
MoreBeautiful sculpture at the the entrance to Oral Roberts University. You can park right next to it and take some cool photos. We enjoyed the simplicity of it and wow - it’s massive. We need more prayers in this world.
MoreMy family is generally Christian, and my children attend a religious private school. That being said, we all separately responded to the hands negatively and in our own different ways. My son likened it to the antithesis of the fresco in the Vatican- these hands are both desperate and controlling at the same time. These don't resemble that laconic lack of seriousness Adam seems to have in that image. There is something else at play here. Our daughter emphasized the implicit fear. I studied body language, so I noticed the power pose of the hands as well as an odd sense of desperation. My wife is NT and rather intelligent, and she just thought they were stupid.
