At a stunning height of 76 feet (23.16 meters), The Golden Driller is a truly inspiring sight to behold. Although this giant has watched over the Tulsa Expo Center from its current site since 1966, it was originally built in 1953 for the International Petroleum Exposition. The monument depicts an oil worker standing tall besides an oil derrick, and is one of the tallest statues in the entire country. While the Golden Driller continues to serve as a testament to the dedication of all those who have made their mark in the Petroleum industry, it has also come to be a popular tourist attraction that offers a rather unique photo opportunity. The Golden Driller has been built just outside the Tulsa Expo Center and is clearly visible as you drive along East 21st Street.
Situated in the Oral Roberts Univesity Campus, the World's Largest Praying Hands is one of its prime attractions. Cast in pure bronze, this symbolic masterpiece depicts two gigantic palms tightly pressed against one another, taking up the universal prayer stance. Touted as the largest structure of its kind, it weighs a whopping 30 tons and stands over 60 feet tall (18.28 meters). The platform that supports this behemoth has a biblical passage from Luke 2:52 inscribed on to it.
