Sitting on Capitol Boulevard, across from Julia Davis Park and next to the The Cabin, this former warehouse has turned itself into a busy urban library that brims with activity. Special events take place in the auditorium, and the children and reference areas are always busy. The library has an excellent local history collection and an extremely helpful staff, always willing to offer advice to visitors. The original Carnegie Boise Library, now housing offices, can be found on the corner of Eighth and Idaho.

tripadvisorLove this library! has lots of books and you can even do it online and they accept it really fast! I recommend going here. I got some bad kitty books has audiobooks and you can even get your own library card as a kid it's super easy if you do it at the library. My child loved these books!
MoreI went to the Main Library for the express purpose of visiting the Tree City Books Bookstore. The friend working the desk was very helpful. I thought the shop was well organized and well stocked, particularly with regard to classics. The prices were very fair.
MoreWe visit here often. The staff is friendly. You can reserve books online and easily and quickly pick them up. You can return books using the driveby return boxes outside. Free parking. Free internet. Comfortable seating areas. Story hours for the kids. Wonderful children's section. The staff do everything they can to make it convenient for patrons. The little used bookshop inside has limited hours but great deals. I went there yesterday with my teenage daughter and she had a ball choosing books. Thank you for providing this resource to our community!
MoreI like to borrow DVDs from the library and it's nice that they work with other libraries in the area. The Librarians are always helpful at the Hillcrest Library!
MoreWith the original branch located in downtown Boise in a repurposed hardware warehouse (though a new building is on the horizon!) and multiple neighborhood branches scattered around town, BPL is a staple in the Boise community. The friendly and knowledgeable staff really know their stuff! They can find 99.9% of anything you may be looking for or can help you to request it from another library (locally or nationally).Programming by the Library! is impressive to say the least. From storytimes for multiple age groups, to guest speakers, to community activities, BPL always has something to do.
