Taking my daughter on a college tour. Although, I rated it average, my daughter is now considering the school. Small strip of shops, plenty of students, food and atmosphere. Definitely more of a college hang out during peak season. It was worth the trip! Hope this helps

Great for students, lots of cheap places to eat and nice places to shop for young people. Worth a trip especially if coming for brown and risd!

Just FYI, if your at the convention center area and want to go over, get the $7.80 Uber because it’s a good 1 mile walk UP HILL, lol! It’s a good walk if your into that, but mid way through in June weather I changed my mind. Worth it though. Great walk on way back as it’s down hill through Brown University campus area. Very clean, great people.

It’s the main avenue of a college town. There are numerous restaurants along the way. The Brown University book store is on Thayer street as is an eclectic movie theater, the Avon Cinema. This is one of bright spots of the city of Providence. Always an entertaining spot to people watch. Parking can be challenging as there is only street parking available.

I love going shopping and eating one Thayer St.. There are just so many great small shops and restaurants that cater to every age group. Lots of course for the college age kids as Brown University is in their backyard so to speak. and within just a mile or so from other private schools and colleges.However the adults from all over the State know it is a hub for nice clothes and good food. You can get just about anything on this strip from a bagel to a high end meal. From a pair of socks to custom made suits.Low prices,High prices. Remember,not all the kids have a rich dad or mom..Most of these kids are one thing and that is for the most part, very,very,smart.You do not get into Brown unless you are smart.and the private schools and other colleges in the area tend to get the smart ones as well. This street is smart,it caters to every person who comes here.and it does it just so well. It is a fun place and you will just have a good time and get some great items as well.The food is really good quality or it will not last here.So,Thayer st.calls to you. bring your whole family. They will love it here.
