tripadvisorI almost bumped into this statue while walking near Faneuil Hall Marketplace. This 10-foot- high bronze sculpture of Mayor White was installed in 2006. He was mayor from 1968 through 1983 and did a lot of good for the city. He even got Queen Elizabeth to come to Boston during the 1976 Bicentennial celebration.
MoreHere is the statue of a fairly recent mayor who did a lot to shape the city through development projects. Not everyone liked him but he was in office for a while. This statue is outside the City Hall.
MoreWalking past City hall on a very cold and snowy day, we came across the 10-foot-tall statue of Kevin White, Boston’s longest running mayor, on Congress Street. This bronze statue of mayor walking away from city hall with his jacket thrown over his left shoulder, was created by sculptor Pablo Eduardo, and displayed to the public in November 2006. There are supposed to be footsteps imprinted in the ground leading up to the statue but these were impossible to see due to all the snow. While mayor he is credited with jazzing up the water front area in 1976 and making Quincy Market a tourist attraction. Which we thank him for as it was our next destination. TIP: This statue is hard to find and often missed on the way to see the Samuel Adam’s statue nearby.
MoreThis statue of Boston's Mayor Kevin White is worth taking a detour and checking out. It has been made to be larger than life and is in motion so the combination makes it a very interesting statue juxtaposed against the stately Samuel Adams statue next to it.
MoreMr Hagen's statue is not on a plinth and although over 10 feet tall does not really intrude into the square. He is purposefully striding along no doubt on some important business for the city. A obviously respected man of Boston's modern era.
